Hope for Hattie: SweetE Gifts Supports Rett Syndrome Awareness Month
This October we are proud to support Rett Syndrome Awareness Month in honor of a precious little girl named Hattie. The daughter of our dear friends, Christy and Barry, Hattie was diagnosed with Rett Syndrome at 2 ½ years old, turning her family’s world upside down. I’ve been fortunate enough to know Hattie and her family through my son’s friendship with her older brother, Cooper. Wyatt and Cooper met at school two years ago, and they’ve been best friends ever since. As both boys are on the Autism Spectrum, our families bonded over the unique challenges—and the surprising joys—of raising kids with special needs.
What is Rett Syndrome?
Rett Syndrome is a rare genetic disorder primarily affecting girls, causing significant challenges as they grow. While most children with Rett Syndrome initially seem to progress typically, signs usually appear between 6 and 18 months of age. Their ability to walk, talk, and use their hands gradually diminishes, leading to lifelong struggles with communication, motor skills, and overall abilities. For families like our friends, confronting Rett Syndrome is a daily challenge, but they face it with incredible resilience, hope, and determination.
Join Us in Spreading Awareness
This October, let’s come together to spread awareness, love, and support for Hattie and all those impacted by Rett Syndrome. Your contribution can make a meaningful difference.
