Attending a small private college outside of Boston was a major shift from the large state university life I was accustomed to in Texas. Despite Babson University’s smaller size, finding my tribe was still a bit of a challenge. Fortunately, Babson’s vibrant Greek life provided a welcoming community, and I eagerly dove into the sorority recruitment process during my freshman year.
Finding My Home in Kappa Kappa Gamma
With only a few sororities on campus, it didn’t take long for me to find the house where I truly felt at home. I pledged Kappa Kappa Gamma and quickly developed a close bond with my pledge class. Two of those sisters remain my best friends even 25 years later. I’ll never forget the thrill of receiving my first shirt adorned with applique letters and all the other fun “Kappa” or “KKG” branded items. Representing our sorority felt just like cheering on a favorite sports team—we wore and carried our letters with immense pride and joy.
Cherished Traditions and Sweet Memories
Every time I returned home to Dallas, visiting McCartney’s University Spirit store was a must. Shopping for new sorority-themed items was a fun tradition that kept my sorority spirit alive even when I was away from campus. The support system I found within my sorority was the sweetest part! From my pledge class to my Big sister, GrandBig sister, Great Grand, and eventually my own Little Sister, there was always someone to turn to and those bonds still mean something to me today.
